The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to national development and education through its participation in the official launch of the Grand Gedeh University $1 million Endowment Fund Drive.
Representing the Corporation at the high-level, results-oriented event held at Monrovia City Hall, the Deputy Managing Director for Administration, T. Wilson Gaye delivered remarks and demonstrated LWSC’s support for the initiative. The Endowment Fund Drive is designed to tackle both immediate and long-term financial challenges facing the University.
Key priorities include expanding scholarship opportunities for academically deserving but economically disadvantaged students, strengthening faculty through capacity-building programs, supporting research and academic exchange initiatives, and reducing the institution’s dependence on government funding. The initiative also aims to attract and retain highly qualified lecturers to enhance academic standards.
Gaye’s presence at the launch not only underscored LWSC’s dedication to education but also helped revitalize the longstanding partnership between the Corporation and Grand Gedeh University. As a gesture of support, LWSC contributed $1,000 to the fund, aligning with the broader goals of the initiative.
The contribution further reflects the Corporation’s continued engagement in national development efforts, particularly in Grand Gedeh County, where LWSC is actively involved in the ongoing rehabilitation of the Zwedru Water Supply System.
Stakeholders at the event praised the collaboration, noting that such partnerships between public institutions and academic entities are essential for sustainable development and improved service delivery across Liberia.
