DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR GAYE CALLS FOR A NON POLITICAL LWSC

Describes Teamwork as the Platform for Increased Revenue

The Deputy Managing Director for Administration, DMD/A of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation, LWSC Hon. T. Wilson Gaye has called on employees of the LWSC to put aside all political differences and concentrate on binding their efforts in a bid to solidify the Corporation.

According to DMD/A Gaye, the time for politics is over and now is the time for all Liberians to join in unity, especially at all government institutions, to work for the common good of all Liberians and the nation.

“The elections are over and all I see now are Liberians or employees of the LWSC”; Hon. Gaye was quick to point out. Deputy Managing Director Gaye emphasized the need for employees of the Corporation to unite and focus on rebranding the entity in the face of what he calls a negative image of the LWSC in the view of the public following what was a period of changing realities.

The LWSC DMD/A who admitted to the fact that employees of the Corporation have been through very unpleasant times, inclusive of huge salary arrears and the cutting off of several benefits from past management, was quick to point out that with unity and sincere teamwork, the LWSC can once more become vibrant and thus restore the dignity of employees by regularizing salaries and restoring all benefits.

“I want to call on all of you to focus on working sincerely to improve our institution for us to increase revenue generation which will enable management to restore the dignity of your employees by paying salaries regularly and restoring all benefits including rice, gasoline, scratch cards and transportation allowances as well as medical and safety insurances”; he stressed.

According to Hon. T. Wilson Gaye, the current management of the Corporation is committed to ensuring that the LWSC is treated as a professional environment and not a political one as absolutely no partisan activities will be tolerated at the workplace, especially during working hours.

“I can assure you all that the LWSC will be treated as a professional environment at all times and not a political one as all partisan activities will be kept completely outside of the workplace and our focus will be on working jointly, irrespective of our political alignments, to improve all aspects of the Corporation to include its infrastructure and the labor values of our employees”; Hon. Gaye noted.

The head of the LWSC administrative division expressed optimism that under the current management headed by Managing Director Hon. Mohammed Ali, the LWSC can once again become a reliable service provider, a vibrant institution, and an attractive employer to several professionals.

“We want to ensure that the LWSC becomes an environment that seasoned technocrats will run to and not one that those that are within will seek to run out”; DMDA Gaye said emphatically.

Hon. T. Wilson Gaye, who was nominated by His Excellency President Joseph N. Boakai on February 20, 2024, and recently confirmed by the Liberian Senate, was speaking recently at an acquaintance meeting with Directors and Managers of his divisions when he officially assumed duties at the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation.  Hon. Gaye said it was necessary to formally interact with all heads of his division as their immediate boss to firstly know who his able lieutenants were and to understand briefly what their key functions were.

“Today is our first official meeting following my confirmation by the Liberian Senate and it is all geared towards us knowing one another and what our terms of reference are briefly but most importantly towards helping me settle in my new environment”; DMD/A Gaye told his divisional heads.

According to the LWSC number two (2) man, it is a normal thing in the public space for employees to feel apprehension when there is a change in political leadership but he admonished all heads of his division and LWSC employees in general to relax and focus on working collectively to revamp and improve the Corporation.

In response, the Director for Human Resources at the LWSC, Madam E. Sonie Zubah welcomed the new DMD/A and called on all employees to work sincerely to support the new management as well as the government of Liberia for the good of the Corporation, its employees and the Liberian people.
