Brief Profile of Hon. Patrick S. Sandikie

Patrick N. Sandikie is the Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services at the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC). He holds an M.Sc. in Municipal Water and Infrastructure from the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, Netherlands, and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Liberia. With over 18 years of professional experience in the public and private sectors, Patrick has a distinguished career in water and sanitation infrastructure planning, design, and construction supervision.

Professional Experience and Expertise

Patrick has a rich background in managing and implementing projects funded by major international donors such as the AfDB, World Bank, USAID, EU, and UNICEF. His roles have spanned various leadership positions within LWSC, including Project Water & Sanitation Engineer for the UWSSP, Technical Services Manager, Operation Engineer/Manager, and Water Treatment and Supply Engineer. In these roles, he has demonstrated exceptional skills in:

  • Design, planning, and implementation of civil, water, and sanitation infrastructure projects.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of WASH programs and projects.
  • Sanitation training and hygiene promotion.
  • Implementation of community-led urban environmental sanitation projects.
  • Conducting environmental impact assessments (ESIAs) and research in water management and onsite sanitation.
  • Municipal water supply and sewerage utility operations and management.
  • Integrated urban infrastructure engineering, including design, construction, renewal, and retrofitting.

  • Strong computer and communication skills, proficient in integrated management systems, Microsoft applications, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • Effective communication across all levels, confidently engaging with senior officials and stakeholders and excelling in report writing and presentation.

Patrick’s published works include a thesis on integrating infrastructure asset management in urban right-of-ways. He is a member of the Liberian Engineering Society and actively contributes to community service through organizations such as Lions Club International.
