The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has commenced a series of working sessions and Training for local staff selected by the Gbarpolu County Superintendent to participate in the operations of the newly constructed Bopolu City Mini-Water Supply System.
The participants, who are residents of Bopolu City, are receiving technical training in key areas, including pump operation, chlorine dosing, periodic maintenance, and standardized reporting systems.
These working sessions aim to ensure the effective management of the water supply system by equipping staff with the necessary skills to maintain water quality, implement proper dosing techniques, establish standardized reporting methods for monitoring and communication, and carry out preventive maintenance to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
Speaking over the weekend in Bopolu City, LWSC Director for Operations, Mohamed Sandy Koroma, emphasized the significance of the working session in improving staff efficiency and service delivery. “This hands-on engagement is essential for equipping our operators with the necessary skills to maintain the water system effectively, ensuring safe and reliable water supply for the community. It also enhances the functionality of the electrical system, ensuring smoother operations across the county,” Mr. Koroma stated.
For his part, Gbarpolu County Superintendent, Sam K. Zinnah, praised the initiative and encouraged the trainees to actively participate. He described the project as transformative for the county. “The working session today reinforces my earlier remarks that this project is life-changing for our people. It will not only improve healthcare by providing clean water but also create economic opportunities through employment,” Superintendent Zinnah said.
Further training sessions covering security, sales & marketing, and financial management are scheduled for the Bopolu Water System staff in the coming week.
