The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) was established in 1973 under an Act of the Legislature. It is mandated to provide safe, reliable water supply and sewerage services across Liberia. We are committed to delivering reliable water, sewerage dislodging, and professional plumbing solutions with efficiency and care.
Historical Perspective
LWSC was created by an Act to amend the Public Utilities Law in 1973. The Corporation is empowered to construct, install, manage, and supply water and sewerage services across Liberia.
Incorporation and Objectives
Established as a public corporation, LWSC is tasked with ensuring water distribution for public, domestic, and industrial purposes.
Policy Objectives
- Engage in the management and distribution of water and sewage services.
- Establish and maintain facilities across Liberia.
- Set fair and reasonable service rates.
- Acquire and manage land, reservoirs, and infrastructure.
- Accept donations, enter contracts, and raise funds for operations.

To focus the efforts of the management and staff on the attainment of the above vision and given that the principal mandate of LWSC is to engage in the Management, development, construction, installation, Manufacture, operations, Transmission, distribution sales, and supply of water and sewage services to all urban areas and county cities in Liberia, we commit, with the highest sense of responsibility to the following as our mission statement. Organizational Structure of LWSC
1). The Government of the Republic of Liberia solely owns the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation.
2). The President of the Republic appoints members of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer (Managing Director), with the advice and consent of the Liberian Senate.
3). Under the Managing Director, there are three (3) Deputy Managing Directors of different divisions: Administration, Technical Services, and Finance.
4). Upon the recommendation of Management, the Board of Directors appoints the Financial Comptroller.
5). The divisions are subdivided into Departments headed by Managers, who are assisted by Assistant Managers.
